Q: What is the highest baudrate supported by SerialSmart ?
A: The highest baudrate supported by SerialSmart is 230.4K. SerialSmart supports following baudrate range: 230.4K, 115.2K, 57.6K, 38.4K, 19.2K, 9600, 4800, 2400, 1800, 1200, 600, 300, 200, 150,75, 50. (Contact GNP for other non-standard baudrate requirements.)

Q: Which platform supports SerialSmart?
A: SerialSmart can be installed on any SPARC-based system running:
* SunOS 4.x - also called Solaris 1.x
* Solaris 2.x (including 2.5) - also called SunOS 5.x.

Q: What is a DEI-1 ?
A: DEI-1 is a serial port expansion board that was manufactured by GNP until 1994. It is the ancestor of GNP's well-known SerialSmart product.

Q: Can I use SerialSmart along with DEI-1 on my Solaris 2.x system ?
A: Yes. You don't need to alter anything in your DEI-1 setup when you install a SerialSmart on your system.

Q: Can I use SerialSmart along with DEI-1 on my SunOS 4.x system ?
A: Yes. You do not need to alter anything in your DEI-1 setup. However, you should contact GNP and obtain a special device driver diskette for the SerialSmart. This device driver will create ports (device names) called /dev/ssm00, ssm01 etc. You can continue to use the ports /dev/tty00, tty01, etc., created by the DEI-1 driver.

A: SerialSmart Supports: SLIP; LotusNotes; PPP packages such as SunLink PPP 3.0, Solaris Async PPP(Bundled), MorningStar PPP, DialUp PPP(dp) from Purdue University; and many more.
